In November, a Peace Corps volunteer in Ndorong-Sereer, Senegal contacted CREATE! with a request. He had heard about our improved cookstove training program and thought that women in his community might be interested. A delegation fromNdorong-Sereer then traveled to the CREATE! Appropriate Technology Training and Demonstration Center in Fass Koffe (about 75 miles away) and participated in an improved cookstove training session with CREATE! field technicians. Training participants returned home to Ndorong-Sereer and shared their new knowledge with their friends and neighbors.

Just a few weeks ago, CREATE! field technicians visited Ndorong-Sereer to see how community members had put their new cookstove building skills to use. Our staff found that every household in Ndorong-Sereer had built at least one cookstove, and many households had two or more! CREATE!’s technicians are thrilled that the women in Ndorong-Sereer have mastered improved cookstove building techniques.

CREATE! is excited about the growing demand for CREATE!’s improved cookstove and the many benefits cookstoves will bring to households in Ndorong-Sereer, including reduced firewood consumption, faster cooking time for meals, and safer, cleaner burning fires. Our staff are now receiving requests for training from as far away as Kedougou, Senegal – over 320 miles away!
