The Keur Soce delegation toured the Fass Kane cooperative garden site in September.

At the end of September, a delegation from the village of Keur Soce visited CREATE!’s partner communities of Fass Koffe and Fass Kane. CREATE!’s program area is located approximately 30 miles northeast of the community of Keur Soce. The Andando Foundation, an Oregon-based nonprofit, is working in Keur Soce to alleviate poverty through micro-development.

Keur Soce leaders met with CREATE! field technicians and cooperative leaders in Fass Kane and Fass Koffe. Together, they shared their experiences with cooperative gardening, tree nurseries, and chicken production. The Keur Soce representatives also toured CREATE!’s garden sites and learned about solar-powered pumps and gravity-fed irrigation systems.

CREATE! is excited to forge new partnerships – both in Oregon and in Senegal – with the Andando Foundation. In the future, we hope that CREATE!’s field staff, CREATE! beneficiaries, and leaders from Keur Soce can continue to meet to share ideas, experiences, and knowledge. Andando and CREATE! programs to alleviate poverty and improve lives in rural Senegal will be strengthened through this partnership.

The Keur Soce group also visited CREATE!’s Appropriate Technology Training and Demonstration Center in the community of Fass Koffe.
