Thanks to an expertly installed pump and solar panel array, women in Walo now have easy access to clean water!

The Walo garden site now has a fully installed solar water pumping system! Members of the new agricultural cooperative in Walo are thrilled to have access to clean water and are very appreciative of CREATE!’s role in this effort. Omar Ndiaye Seck, CREATE!’s Country Representative in Senegal, is immensely proud of the accomplishments of CREATE!’s technicians, who worked with volunteers from Walo to complete the installation.

The installation of the solar-powered pumping system is not just a technical achievement for our highly qualified field staff. Seck and his colleagues were also able to source all needed materials, including solar panels, the well pump, and customized installation equipment, from distributors and artisans located in Senegal! The local knowledge and ingenuity of our staff helps strengthen the sustainability and self-sufficiency of CREATE! programs in Senegal.

CREATE! field technicians worked with volunteers from Walo to install all of the necessary pieces for the solar installation, including this locally-made “strongback” for the solar panels.

Power from the new solar panel array will quickly pump well water to an elevated storage reservoir located near the garden site in Walo.
