Dear friends of CREATE!,

In the current state of affairs in the US, we as an organization and as human beings want to take the time to reflect on our ability as citizens of the world to combat injustices, bring about peaceful change, and empower others. At CREATE!, our mission has always been to empower as well as build self-sufficient communities in rural Senegal and West Africa while contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. To achieve our mission, we embark on climate action and livelihood initiatives aimed at redressing gender and racial inequality and the lack of investment in rural areas of Africa.

While our critical work takes place in Senegal, our team is comprised of committed and aware American and Senegalese citizens who aspire to equality, fairness, and justice for all. We are appalled by the George Floyd murder and other murders and acts of violence against unarmed African-Americans and other minority groups in America.

CREATE! will continue to work tirelessly to combat gender and income inequality through our work in Africa, ably supported by our US team and family of donors from around the world. Our teams in both countries are dedicated to being a part of the positive change on both continents, individually and collectively. Our thoughts and prayers go to frontline activists working to combat racism and persecution against minority groups in the U.S. We are committed to reconciliation, peace and structural change in our country to combat the effects of racism and socioeconomic inequality.

Sincerely,
The CREATE! Team
