“We say thank you to CREATE!” Ndam Diouf, 35, is a matron (health worker) at the health post in Gagnick Mack, Senegal. As a matron, she delivers babies, distributes medications and vaccinations, and conducts medical exams. She is very thankful for the new solar water heater that CREATE!’s field team installed at the Gagnick Mack health center in May. More information about the solar water heater installation can be found here.

The entire community of Gagnick Mack worked together with CREATE! field technicians to install the solar water heater at the village health post.
Ndam tells us that the solar water heater in Gagnick Mack is “very easy to use.” Prior to its installation, she had to heat water using a butane gas stove, which took a long time and was often cost prohibitive. Water from the solar water heater, Ndam says, “is free and we can get hot water instantly.”

Ndam can now easily access hot water using a tap on the side of the solar water heater in Gagnick Mack, located in the yard of the health post.
Ndam is using the hot water to wash medical instruments and to wash mothers and newborn babies. CREATE! is so happy that Ndam is able to use this appropriate technology to safely bring many happy and healthy babies into the world!
